WebOct 17, 2008 · If it has bands that look like a bullseye inside, it could be cobden. The cortex on cobden is smooth and tan in color. It could also be possible that it is platville galena. That is the chert I find most of the time by the Illinois river. It has a white limestone cortex. If you can post a picture of it, I may be able to ID it for you. nobody
